Our courses are run from beautiful converted barns in a tranquil and welcoming farm setting in Hertfordshire where students can relax and feel at home; the design and making of curtains, Roman blinds, London blinds, upholstered pelmets, valances, swags & tails, arched windows, bed dressings, cushions and trimmings, lampshades, headboards, interior design, including professional track & pole fitting and how to set up and run a successful curtain making business.

Our intensive courses will provide students within a short time frame the skills required, and the confidence, to go on to make quality hand sewn window dressings and complimentary soft furnishings. Whether you wish to learn a new skill, or set up your own business, our courses are tailored to suit all levels of ability, including absolute beginners. A high percentage of people go on to set up their own curtain making businesses following training with us.

We award a Certificate of Accreditation on completion of each course attended. On completion of COURSE ONE, TWO & THREE and MAKING OF CUSHIONS, students are awarded an Accredited ‘DIPLOMA in Professional Curtain Making & Soft Furnishings’.

Victoria Hammond has a wealth of professional experience in making window dressings and soft furnishings for the luxury residential and commercial market. After graduating with a degree in Textiles and a Diploma in Curtain Making & Soft Furnishings, and gaining experience working for top end design companies, Victoria established her business in 2001. She then went on to set up the Academy in 2008, and now thoroughly enjoys training people alongside working with private interior design clients. Victoria and other tutors at the Academy teach to a high standard using traditional hand sewing methods. Victoria is always willing to share her expertise and professional tips that she has gained in many years of running her business. Victoria believes in maintaining relationships with those who have attended courses and provides on going support advising on all aspects of the curtain making industry.
